MY LEARNING STORY
Everything began at school; I was really interested in the English language. What called my attention in that moment was the music, everybody was listening the fashion bands so I wanted to understand that music and to know what they were singing. I did my best and I also tried to be the best, although the teacher wasn’t very good. At the beginning it was hard but as time passes, things were getting better due to my sister began to study English and she helped me with all my homework and solved any doubt I had.
Even though I liked English a lot, when l finished high school l didn’t know what to do or to study. So I began an English course at UIS and been there I decided to register myself in the English teaching program. I was finishing the second level so I left it to begin the program. At the beginning things were difficult because my English level wasn’t high; anyhow, I went ahead with it and my interest in the program increases. I think that was because I had really good teachers and my partners spoke excellent English and I wanted to be better than them. Most of my partners began working at second semester, but l didn`t feel prepare enough at that moment. I waited some semesters and I began working when I was in sixth semester.
I began working at the Language Institute there in the UIS, with a group of kids. In my first day of class I didn’t feel nervous instead of that I was excited and happy because finally I was going to do what I liked. I didn’t know anything about the methodology, games and how to make the classes interested for them. So I asked some friends who had been working for a long time and they helped me a lot. Besides my sister, who is an English teacher too, helped me and gave me some material to begin.
Since that moment up to now I have worked with children and teenagers, and the experiences have been wonderful. I want each class to be better than the previous one, so every day I am thinking and planning something to make my classes more attractive. I think this is a job where you can try different things and learn more every day.
